Our girls work very hard to keep up their grades while playing in a very competitive sport team like the AAU-Rocket Flames.
They are becoming very well rounded individuals and we wanted to recognize their efforts.
The following were academical and other achievements from some of
our girls (in alphabetical order) in the past year :
Adjowa was one of the six students recognized for Presidential Award (signed by George W. Bush) at Cashell Elementary School for having GPA of 3.5 and above.
Babette was a Patrol Captain at her school and won the Presidential Award, the Principal award, the Learning skill award and the award of Merit for a Safety Patrol. Also, she got the 2007 Paula Gordon award from the Mayor and the City Council of Gaithersburg.
She was selected to both the Humanities and Science Magnet School programs in 2007-2008 and will pursue the Science program at Roberto Clemente MS.
Elizabeth had all A's and B's, performed in a piano recital and was President of the Young Voices Choir.
Grace received 2 awards: the National Fitness Award and the Tri-athlete Award because she played 3 sports: soccer, basketball and lacrosse.
Jasmine received all A's and 2 B's on her report card while taking Math A. Jasmine received an award for art achievement and had 2 of her pieces of artwork displayed at the Strathmore. Jasmine also was nominated to attend the National Young Scholars Program. She was nominated by a group of teachers as a child that demonstrates maturity, scholastic merit and leadership ability. She will attend the week long program in DC later in the summer. Jasmine will be taking all GT classes in 6th grade.
Lauren received straight A's the whole year. She had the highest math average in the seventh grade math class that she took while in fifth grade. In the last quarter she got 100 on every quiz and test except one. She also started playing the clarinet at school and moved up to the advanced band. She turned out to be one of the best clarinets in the class. She is also on a very high level soccer team, ranked #3 in the state of Maryland.
Natalie maintained straight A’s in all her classes including Math A and the
advanced William and Mary reading programs. She also received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.
She will be taking all GT classes in 6th grade next year.
Quinn attained "Distinguished Honors" for the last three semesters (straight A's)
and made Honor Roll her first semester. She is in the advanced Math
A which was 6th grade math and next year she will be taking seventh
grade math. She was in the Chorus and playing clarinet in the Band. She was also a
member of the Chevy Chase News Network where she helped produce live
and taped news broadcasts for her school.
Rachel was student council Vice President, Honor Roll, and one of the best King Louie ever seen in the school's
Jungle Book musical history.
Sarah won two awards this year - both having to do with her "character" - both a great honor. One was at Leadership Program she attends for girls and another was given to her by her 5th grade teacher.
Sarah is also very proud of being accepted to Connelly School of the Holy Child for 6th grade. She will be starting in the Fall.
Sydney received the Katherine Meyer Leadership award from St.John's Episcopal School.
