Welcome to the 96 Flames girls basketball team. Our team refers to themselves as the "Rocket Flames." We are proud to be the best Regional Flames team in our division since our team was established in the Spring of 2005. Tony White is the head coach. Mauricio Sanmartin is the Assistant Coach. Susan Moore is the team manager. It is important to stress that our team is not a recreational team. We are a competitive AAU basketball team and equal playing time is not guaranteed. We also do not believe that it is best to lower the bar for those that do not give 100% effort during practices and/or during games. As parents, please ask yourself if your daughter is willing to put forth 100% effort during practices. As coaches, we know when the girls are giving 100% of them-selves during practice or at a game. Yes, some girls may have better basketball skills than others, but all girls can and should give 100% of their own effort. We will utilize every opportunity to teach your child through the good and sometimes not-so-good experiences of this team. Missing practices and/or arriving late to practice will affect playing time. The girls will need this practice time to learn plays and develop team chemistry. In addition to our weekly practices, we will also participate in tournaments as well as scrimmages. We will work hard to elevate the level of skill for all our players. The coaches need the support from the parents by ensuring that the players come to every practice on time and attends all tournaments. For the girls, their responsibility is to show 100% effort and commitment during practice and a desire to excel. We believe that solid defensive play is the key for all players. Defense is effort. Playing good defense is a source of motivation. Offense and scoring is secondary for us at this point. We look forward to another successful season. With every parent support and our combined commitment we believe there are no limitations for our team. We are always interested in adding new talented players and tryouts are always available.
